Easter holiday number 2

We got to Maryborough around 4pm Monday afternoon. Back at Jake’s house we had some dinner, talks and pool games before I had a quick workout before bedtime.Tuesday was a fully packed beautiful sunny day. After breakfast Jake’s parents took us out for a drive. We went in to town, looked in some shops and did some nececitises before we drove to the local wildlife sanctuary. We had a wander, fed the kangaroos, watched the dingoes and the beautiful birds and hold a big phyton. It was a nice experience and good family fun. After the sanctuary we drove to a cafĂ© for lunch. We had yummy wraps and a salad to share. Full and happy we went to Aldi before we drove back home. Lida had to work for some hours while Jake and I wanted to go to the gym. We did a good legday before we got some groceries for dinner and went back home. I started some dinner preparations with homemade pizza and roasted veggie salad on the menu and when the preparation were done Jake and I did some airrifle target shooting in the garden. Good fun and creative targets. Imogen and Tony came for dinner and we all ate and had a nice time together. After dinner we played loads of pool games and the winners got scratchies.Wednesday to Thursday Jake and I were supposed to go to Fraser Island so we packed our bags for the trip and got organized with food and plans. After a last pool game we went to bed.Wednesday morning we had an early breakfast before we drove to Hervey Bay to take the ferry to Fraser Island. The ferry trip took about 45 minutes and it took us straight to the Kingfisher Bay resort where we were staying. We took our bags to the luggage room before we went for a little walk half in the bush and half on the beach. We looked for dingoes but didn’t find any. It was a nice walk and the weather was pretty good. Back at the main beach we did some swimming and relaxing before we checked in at the hotel around 1pm. After checking in we played some tennis, I did a workout and a run and we had another bush walk before dinner. Nice 33000 steps that day. We went to a really nice restaurant at the hotel for dinner. We had salmon, potatoes and beautiful chargrilled vegetables. After dinner we played some pool and basket before we listened to crime junkies in bed and fell asleep after a good first day on Fraser Island.Thursday morning we got up early to go on a guided 4WD tour to some highlights of the island. We drove to Eurong Beach resort and followed the 74 mile long beach up north. First stop was Eli creek. We had a walk, took some photos, felt and tasted the water and enjoyed the beach before we continued the drive to the Pinnacles. The Pinnacles was basically just a colored sand hill which was really pretty and then the last stop on the beach was the ship, the Meheno wreck. Maheno was a 120 meters long boat that was washed ashore by a cyclone in 1935. Now the remains are a famous tourist attraction. After the ship we drove all the way back to Eurong. We were served a nice lunch buffet at a restaurant before we drove to the rain forrest for a little boardwalk wander. The forrest was so beautiful, plants in all different tones of green, bright blue water and birds singing.Next up was lake Mc Kenzie. The lake was the best part of the trip. It was so damn pretty. Clear blue, totally clean water, refreshing temperature and mostly sunny. We swam, wandered and admired. Such a good way to finish off the trip. After an hour or so we drove back to the resort. Jake and I went down to the beach to see the sunset. It was really pretty and bloody red and when the sun was down and the people were gone we did some abs and chest workouts and got eaten by hundreds of mozzies. When the rain came we went up to the pools and jumped into the jacuzzi. It was nice and warm and we had a chat with an Italian guy. At 7.15pm we joined a guided night spotlighting walk and it was so, so good. The guide was gourgous and I learnt a lot. We saw loads of frogs, different spiders, kookaburras, bats, eels and a super cool sugar glider. Down by the jetty we saw stingrays, fish and two green sea turtles. In other words a well spent hour.At 8.30pm we took the ferry back to River Heads. Dennis and Lida picked us up and drove us back home. It was quite late and we showered, ate and went to bed. A nice Fraser Island adventure!

Friday was a relaxing day. After breakfast Jake, his parents and I went out for another adventure. We drove to a lake about an hour away, got the picnic gear out and enjoyed a nice lunch in the sun.Jake and I relaxed on the gras listening to another crime junkie podcast before the weather changed extremely. The sun was replaced with clouds, the wind got strong and the rain poured down. Time to drive home. On the way back we visited Tony and Imogen before we went back to the house. Jake caught up with an old friend and I went to the gym for a short session. In the evening I made some salmon and salads for dinner before Jake and I had a night stroll and went to bed.Saturday morning Jake and I were supposed to go to Rainbow beach but because the weather forecast was thunderstorms and 90 % rain we rather went to Hervey Bay which is way closer. We did a lot of shopping for Jake and he got a whole new wardrobe. We had lunch on the beach and picked up Lida from work around 2. Later in the afternoon Jake and I went to the gym and in the evening we had some tacos and played some pool games.Sunday morning we had a nice breakfast. The boys played some pool and Lida and I worked out a bit. At 10am we drove to the train station and caught the train back to Brisbane. Back to everyday routines and work ❤️ a good couple of weeks gone and more to come!

Melbourne

I flew to Melbourne and Linda picked me up and took me home. It was so nice to see them all again. Hadn’t seen them since December. Saturday was a pretty relaxing day. We was at Brett’s house and for the first hour or two we couldn’t stop chatting. It was the best! Later on Dana, Jack and I went for a walk in Torquey. A beautiful walk on the beach, such a lovely start of a beautiful week.We saw many kangaroos on our way home. The evening was nice and relaxing. Sunday morning Dana was working again. She works at a nice Cafe in town. Brett, Stef, Harry, nanny and I went in for coffees and juices.Afterwards, Stef and I went to Torquey to look in some shops. I wasn’t meant to buy anything but with Stef’s support I ended up buying a very comfortable and colorful outfit. So happy about it!Stef also bought an outfit and before we drove back home we had a really nice walk on the beach.Back home we had some lunch before Dana finished work and we all went out for a stair run workout. It was a good session with a lot of sweat and fun and we saw some random camels in the beach. After a shower we cooked a delicious nutritious dinner with different salads, cauliflower, roasted vegetables, tatziki and pita bread together with the main chef Brett and it was so, so good.Monday started out with a 30 minutes home workout with Dana before brekky and road trip.Lucy, Dana and I drove towards the Otways national park. The weather was grey but nice and we drove the Great Ocean Road to the Redwood forrest. On the way we had a stop at the swing Bridge Cafe where we cleaned the beach for free coffees. Brilliant idea! We filled three buckets with rubbish and got a coffee each.In the redwood Forrest we had a walk among the big trees and ate some lunch in the rain. The nature was beautiful and we also had a walk to a little Waterfall. On the way back we had a stop in Lorne before we drove to Linda’s house. The rainbow on the way home was beautiful. At home, we had a relaxing afternoon with a dog walk and some podcasts. A beautiful day!Tuesday morning Dana was working again. I had a relaxing morning with a good gym session at the local Anytime Fitness. A little interesting insect was joining the gym too. After the gym I made granola with Lucy, it turned out really good. We met Dana at the Cafe in her lunch break before Lucy and I had a wander at Pako street. When Dana finished work we went to a gym session with Dana’s cousin. It was a group session with a bit of boxing, running and legs. It was really good and fun and with some competitions and team work it was pure joy. Afterwards we went to Brett’s house and had a relaxing afternoon with another beautiful dinner and some scrabble.Wednesday morning we drive to Linda’s house again. We had a walk in the park with Spud (the dog) together with Lucy, Bowen and Bowen’s sister Edy.At 10 we went to trampoline world, aka supatramp. Supatramp is a big indoor playground with loads of trampolines, obstacles, balls and fun. It was a playful hour and we all survived without broken bones. After supatramp I had a gym session before we made some beautiful nourish bowls for lunch, thank you Lucy and Dana! So yum! After lunch we relaxed for a bit, I had a walk with Spud and Dana did some reading. We also did one of Dana’s gym sessions on the kitchen floor. It burned! Around 5 Dana and I started making dinner. We made zucchini pasta with a tomato sauce filled with mushrooms, lentils and chickpeas and it turned out very nice. Right after dinner Dana and I went to the cinemas to watch “Five feet apart”. It was a beautiful and sad movie. Back home we pretty much just went to bed after a long and adventurous day.Thursday morning we got up at 6am to volunteer and feed the homeless. We made toast, eggs, beans and more and served breakfast to more than 50 homeless people in Geelong. It was a really nice start of the day.I didn’t feel to good on Thursday. I was really tired and needed a rest. I had a nap after the breakfast program before I went for a long walk and some fresh air. I felt a bit better after the walk and joined Brett to a group session at the gym a quarter past 6. It was a great hit session and Brett was a good gym partner. Defo do that again! I had an early night.Friday morning started out with a private boxing session at the gym at 6am. Dana was working until 4 so Stef took me on an adventure to Point Addis beach. We looked up the tides and seaked for a cave during low tide. We found it, crawled through it and took loads of photos. I was a bit on the outside of my comfort zone a couple of times climbing slippery rocks, walk through millions of flies and letting the waves attack you from behind, but it was an adventure I won’t forget. Back on the beach we did some tanning, running and swimming. Such a beautiful and warm autumn day!Around 1 we headed back to the car and drove home for lunch. I had some beautiful leftovers from Stef’s vegetable fritatta. In the afternoon, after a leg session at the gym, Dana got home from work. Jack came over and we watched a movie before bed.On Saturday Dana and I started the day with some yoga before Dana went to work at 9. We all went to the Cafe at 9.30 so that I could say goodbuy before Brett and Stef and I went to Melbourne for a day in the city. We went to the kettle black Cafe and had a wonderful yummy pretty looking brunch.Afterwards we walked through the art gallery and had a wander through plenty of shops. I didn’t buy anything, but Brett found a suit and we were all very happy. On the way back to the car we got some really good sushi before Brett drove me to the airport around 5pm.I flew back to Brisbane at 6.45 after a wonderful week with one of my many wonderful Australian families. Love you all to the moon and back. I got home pretty late after a flight, a train and a bus. I had a shower and some food and went to bed.Sunday was spent together with Brynnin. It was a nice day. We did some washing and cleaning and I repacked my bag ready for Maryborough and Fraser Island with Jake. Midday Brynnin and I went to Indooroopilly shopping center to get some necessities and to print out some photos. Back home we had lunch before we went to the gym for a bit. I was still not feeling too well so I took a slow upper body session instead of the planned cardio workout. After the gym we went home and had dinner before we did some writing and reading and went to bed. A nice and pretty relaxing day. Now I’m going up to Maryborough and Fraser Island with Jake. New adventures are waiting.

Brissy updates

Sooooo I landed in Brisbane 6am the 20th of March. The first couple of days were very tiresome. The jetlag hit me hard and every day was a fight against the sleep. Jake and I took it slow and relaxed a lot. I got back into the gym and it was nice to meet everyone again.

The first weekend Sanne came to visit and I spent some days with her wandering around in Brisbane. Sanne and I spent time in the pool in South Bank and when Jake finished work he joined in and we went out for sushi and had a good time. The weather was really, really nice but extremely humid and warm. A bit of a shock after two weeks in Norway. During the weekend we also went to the big science festival and Jake and I watched a show with Dr Karl.

On Sunday I went out for dinner with Brynnin, my upcoming boss in my new au pair job that I started a week later. It was a lovely dinner and she seemed really nice.

Monday was a relaxing day with Sanne in the sun before homemade pizzas for everyone at home and concert in the evening. Monday night was a good night. Jake and I took the train to Brisbane Entertainment Centre for a John Mayer concert! It was so good and we both enjoyed it a lot. He is such a good singer, writer and guitarist.

Tuesday Jake went back to his studies and I went to Sunshine Coast to catch up with some friends. I met Emily at the gym, walked around at the plaza and enjoyed some hours in Cotton tree. In the afternoon I met Kirra at the plc maroochydore gym for a 45 minutes functional training session. It was so nice to see Kirra again and we had a fabulous session together. I really loved plc. It was high intensity and tough. Felt so good after it.

We went home, showered and relaxed. Her family was so nice. Kirra’s dad has done backpacking and traveling for 9 years. He is originally from Durban in South Africa but he has lived several years in Sweden and been to Norway and now he lives in Australia. Her mum Hollie was just the most gourgous woman too, not to mention their two beautiful dogs. We were sweaty and warm after the plc so we jumped straight into the pool in the garden. Such a nice cool down. I got my own bedroom and a beautiful bed and stayed at Kirra’s house until Friday.

Wednesday started out with plc at 6am before I spent some time at the beach and with Emily while Kirra was working. It was heavy rain everyday but I still enjoyed it. In the afternoon I had a meatpie and some sushi for dinner before we played some pool with Kirra’s dad, Bree (her sister) and Bree’s friend.

Kirra came home from work and we had a relaxing evening at home. Thursday we had a bit of a sleep in before we went to Sunshine Plaza after breakfast. It was a big opening day and a whole lot of new stores. We lined up outside Sephora to be among the first 500 people to get a goodie bag. We made it as number 416 and 417 and got loads of free samples, face masks and a Marc Jacob’s browser worth 84 dollars for free. It was soooo good and so packed. People everywhere, free coffees, free icecreames and good vibes. We looked around in some shops and I caught up with Sofi too.

Sofi and I got tired of all the people so we caught a bus to Mooloolaba to go for a walk. The rain just stopped when we got there and we had a nice walk along the beach. I bumped into Jill and the dog Soda and had a chat with them before Sofi had to go home and I went back to the plaza to meet Kirra and Kristen.

Back home Kirra and I had some food before we washed her room and went to plc at 6pm. Just another awesome session. After the training we tried out one of the face masks and watched some mafs before bed. Friday morning we did plc at 7 before Kirra drove me to the Palmwoods station to catch the train back to Brisbane. It had been some good days in Aus so far and I couldn’t wait for more.

Saturday I was starting my new job. First up was driving practice. New side of the road and new side of the car.

The driving was a bit hard in the start, especially in Brisbane City centre. The traffic is hectic and there are so many different lanes, one way roads and traffic lights everywhere. Brynnin, the kids mum, showed me where Olivia’s school is and where Leighton’s daycare is and after some practicing I had a relaxing Saturday afternoon with Jake watching a movie called Room. The house was good. I got a nice bedroom with a queen size bed, beautiful sheets, a big wardrobe and shelves on the walls. I moved in and got all my stuff out of the suitcases and it was so so nice not to live in the bags anymore.

Sunday I had a relaxing morning with a good breakfast and a gym session. The kids came home from their grandparents around 2pm. We went to the park and I got to know them. They are really cute and easy going. Brynnin made us a beautiful dinner and we draw pictures and did coloring in before we went to bed. Brynnin explained the daily routines for me. Wake up at 6, get the kids ready for school, make breakfast and drive them to school and day care. Then do some cleaning in the house plus freetime until around 3.30pm. Then I’ll pick the kids up, take them home, bath them and make them ready for dinner, some activities and bed.

Monday morning went very well. I drove them in time and everything was easier than expected. Back home I went to the gym and ate lunch before I drove to Jake to have a relaxing day in South Bank. We walked to the swimming pool, tanned and listened to th podcast called Crime Junkies. When it was time to pick up the girls, I tried to drive to Leighton’s daycare from the Gabba side but that was apparently quite difficult. I ended up in different lanes several times and got stopped by one way roads and spent 40 minutes on a 7 minutes ride. I got there eventually, picked her up and picked up Olivia at her school. Back home we had dinner and drawing before an early night. Loads of new information, routines and challenges. I felt proud after achieving the driving cus even though I drove a bit slow I drove pretty good.

Tuesday and Wednesday were pretty much the same. Gym, kids, work, washing clothes, cleaning and helping out with what I could. Brynnin made the best dinners and I really enjoyed my new home. Thursday I went to minigolf with Jake midday, but Brynnin called and I had to leave when Leighton was sick. I spent the day home with Leighton and Jake and we did a lot of drawing and TV watching. In the afternoon when Brynnin got home, Jake and I went back to the minigolf to finish the game. It was a great game, especially because I won, haha. After the game I just relaxed and went to bed early.

Friday was a quite busy day! Leighton had to be home because she was still a bit sick and Brynnin was off to Gold Coast at 12pm. I drove Olivia to school in the morning before I had a trial shift at the Smoked Paprika Cafe from 9 to 11. I had applied for a part time job there for weekends and middays and got through to the trial stage. It was a fun shift. I jumped straight into it, wiped the tables, took orders, served food and did the dishes. It was very similar to the last hospitality job I had in Maroochydore and I really enjoyed it. Smoked paprika is a beautiful busy Cafe and the trial went very well. After the trial I asked the boss what he thought about me and he said “you are amazing”. He wanted me straight on the roster and I got the job. Happy!

Back home I drove Brynnin to the city so that she could go to work before I spent the afternoon with Leighton. We had some lunch and did some drawing and at 3 we went to Olivia’s school to watch Olivia’s swimming lesson. She did well and Leighton was a good girl watching. Their dad picked them up for the weekend and I rushed home to prepare my Melbourne trip. The next couple of weeks was Easter and I was going to Melbourne from the 6th to the 13th of April. I packed my bags, had dinner and washed the bathroom. Exhausted after a long and busy day I went to bed around 11. The alarm Saturday morning rang at 5.20am. I took the bus to the train station and the train to the airport. Next up was Melbourne!

Bye Goa

Now I’m back in Norway after the most beautiful adventure ever. The last days in Goa were wonderful. On Friday I had a good gym session, sunbathed on the beach with Callum, had a wander in the streets and relaxed at the hotel. Saturday I had a lazy morning and walked straight to the beach. I walked to The House Shack restaurant, found a nice sun bed and snoozed for hours. At 12, Becca and Laura came to join and we had some nice drinks and enjoyed life to the fullest.

The weather was beautiful and we needed some dips in the ocean every now and then to cool down. Around 2 I walked back to the hotel for a very needed shower. Then, I met Becca and Laura again and we went to a nice restaurant for an early dinner. They weren’t too hungry so they just had some ice cream but I had a wonderful veg makhanwala and roti. Makhanwala sauce, vegetables and paneer. Best meal!

Afterwards, they took a taxi back to their hotel and I went back to my place. I relaxed for some hours, spoke to Jake and chatted with family back home. Crazy Jake had just bought us tickets to a John Mayer concert in Brisbane in the end of March! Can’t wait to go back to him and Australia! I also found a lizard in my drinking glass inside the fridge this afternoon which was very disgusting.

Anyway, around 8 I went to the gym and did upper body before I watched a movie in bed and fell asleep.

Sunday morning I slept until 7 and did some packing and organizing before I checked out from the hotel. I left my backpacks there and went out in the sun for a 12 kms run on the beach. It was so so lovely. I ran all the way to the fort by the cliffs and back. It was very warm and the sunscreen melted down into my eyes, but still a very good start of the day.

For the next hours I was pretty much just relaxing in the sun. I bought some food for the flight and had some lunch, a swim in the pool and a shower before I took a taxi to the airport. It was an interesting taxi ride, chatting with the driver. My flight was long, a 21 hours travel. First I flew to Mumbai and then I had to wait there for 7 hours before my next flight at 3am. Then I flew to Paris before I could fly home to Norway. The stopover in Paris was way too short and I ran all the way to the gate. I made it, just, but my backpack is still on its way home.

These 2 months of traveling has been so incredibly amazing. Words can’t even describe how grateful I am to have the opportunity to travel as much as I do. This travel has given me so much. I feel more confident and mature, I have learnt so so much and I’ll definitely appreciate my life more after everything I’ve seen. Life isn’t a dance on roses, not for anyone. The groups have been so great too, friends for life time and memories that I’ll never ever forget. Can’t wait for new destinations. Now I have 13 days on snowy Norway before I move back to Australia again.

Life is beautiful.

Hello Goa

We arrived Goa Airport around 3pm. The drive to Alor holiday resort was about an hour and a half located in Calangute. We checked in before I had a wander to explore the new area. I walked through the main streets, looked around and got some groceries.

My hotel room was nice and big and it was good to fill up the fridge with some basics for the next day’s breakfasts. I got some fresh fruits, oats, milk, nuts and Yoghurt. Apparently Goa is famous for it’s cashew nuts and they were really good too. After my little wander I met Steph back at the hotel and we walked to the beach to see what it was like. It was average and on the way back to the hotel we bought some towels for 15kr.

At 6 we all went out for dinner. The sunset was beautiful and colored the sky purple.

We walked through the main street to the main beach and had a very very nice meal at a beachy restaurant. I had what I always have, Indian mixed vegetables with roti. After dinner we walked back to the hotel. So many drunk and high people around, wouldn’t walk that way alone. Back at the hotel we played some table tennis before we went to bed.

Wednesday morning I woke up around 6.30 and walked to the beach with Steph to see the sunrise. It was a nice morning and you could tell it would be a beautiful sunny day.

I went to the gym at 7 and had an upper body session before a lovely breakfast at the hotel. At 10.30 we drove to a prettier beach 45 minutes away. We pretty much just chilled there the whole day. Sunbathing, swimming, reading, some walks along the beach. It was a beautiful warm day and the water temperature was closer to 30. Lovely.

In the afternoon we took the taxis back and had an hour rest before we got ready for dinner. It was Steph’s birthday so we were going somewhere nice. We went to a restaurant a short drive away. The food was not as good as the day before but the vibe and the music was quite good. After dinner we had some games of pool and some dancing. Steph got a beautiful birthday cake and the dj played the birthday song. Some people stayed out for hours while others went home earlier. Laura and I went back quite early and the same did Molly and Kenzie cus they had an early flight the next day. Tomorrow the group will split up. So of us are going to Sri Lanka (soooo jelly, definitely on my bucket list) and others are going home. I have three more days in Goa before a 14 days break at home before I’m off to Aus again. Can’t wait!

Mumbai

The bus ride took us from Udaipur to Ahmedabad. It was some long 6 hours. Warm and humid but the seats were better than the last bus. I did some reading, slept, listened to some podcasts and chatted with Laura beside me. We had one toilet break on the way and arrived in Ahmedabad around 4pm.

Then we took a tuktuk to Ghandi’s house and museum and had a wander there.

Afterwards we drove to a shopping mall for food and aircon. I didn’t buy anything else than food, which is good cus my backpack is full and my wallet is thin. Around 8.30pm we drove to the train station to catch an overnight train to Mumbai. We boarded around 10pm. It was all open beds, 8 beds in each “room” but the rooms were all open, no walls or curtains. I had an upper bed, number 16. The quality of the train was better than in Vietnam. It was clean, not smelly, and the sheets were new and washed. I made my bed with double sheets, blanket and pillow, watched half a movie and fell asleep.

I slept until 6 and we arrived Mumbai 6.20. Probably not the best night sleep, but I’m happy. Overall a nice overnight train. Taxis picked us up at the train station and we drove to the Fortune Hotel. After some minutes of wifi we drove to a restaurant by the sea for breakfast. It was so nice to see and smell the ocean again. I just love the ocean. I ordered an egg white and vegetable omelet with brown bread and it was very good.

Even though we all wanted a shower we couldn’t check in at the hotel quite yet. It was too early so we went straight to the next activity which was taxi sightseeing. Taxis took us around Mumbai city and stopped at all the most famous places so that we could have wanders and take photos. First we went to the Nariman point, the home of India’s prestigious business headquarters. The point is also the tip of the Mumbai peninsula and the end of Mumbai’s Marine drive. So many cute dogs snoozed in the sun along the walkway and the weather was beautiful.

Furthermore we drove up the “Queen’s necklace” to the Iskon temple, a hindu temple. After a walk both inside and outside we drove to another of Ghandi’s houses. He lived in this house from 1917 to 1934. It was very nice, original and well kept but at the same time transformed into some kind of a museum. The house had three floors and on the top floor they had made small window boxes with dolls showing the most importent scenes of Ghandi’s life. That was very nice and easy to follow.

Next up was the Hanging gardens, also knows as Pherozeshah Mehta gardens. We had a wander through the flowers and green grass and it was very lovely and very warm. The sun was burning, especially with long pants on. (which is needed in India at almost all times) I saw some nice bees and butterflies and got some nice photos with my camera.

On the way down from the gardens we passed the tower of silence which is were they dump dead bodies. They grill the bodies and then they feed the birds with the leftovers inside a tower. Quite crazy. Then we drove to Malabar Hill, a VIP residential neighborhood in South Mumbai. There we got to see the Antils house owned by Mukesh Ambani, the richest man in India. His house is a skyscraper and he has a staff of 600 to maintain the residence 24 hours a day. With his family of four he has plenty of floors with gym, pool, spa, restaurant, cinema and everything you need, or not need. It was sick to see and the fact that only four people live there is crazy.

Next stop was Haji Ali Dagah mosque built in 1431. We just photographed from the car. The traffic was crazy at this time. Several times we waited like 20 mins for one traffic light. Slowly but surely we drove to the next stop, Mumbai’s biggest washing machine. That was a very cool stop. Thousands of clothes and sheets were washed and dried, a classic tourist attraction to watch.

It was so warm and we were all sweaty and gross after a long day and train wearing the same clothes as the day before. After the loundry we went to Victoria Square for lunch. I had a veggie cheese whole wheat baguette and a Yoghurt and after lunch we went to the famous Indian gate. We took some photos but the lighting wasn’t the best.

Next stop was the Shantaram slum. I’m reading the book Shantaram at the moment and it. was nice to actually be there and see what it looked like. A slum with narrow streets, small houses made of corrugated iron, street dogs, goats and wires. Shantaram, the home to more than 1 million people. I felt a bit guilty walking among the poverty but all the people in the slum seemed quite happy. They smiled at us and said Namaste. I didn’t get the feeling they didn’t like us walking through. It was a nice experience, we’re lucky in Norway and Aus. After the slum we drove back to the hotel. It took some time bcus of the traffic but Mumbai was way more organized than Dehli. Mumbai had traffic conductors and traffic lights and to be one of the biggest cities in the world with more than 21 million people it was both tidy and functional. The morning was like a hop on hop off taxi experience and to be honest I slept in between every single stop. Trains, buses and traveling in general make you sleepy. Back at the hotel we all enjoyed a warm shower. Some people had a nap, others relaxed with wifi and I went to the nearest gym. Style Gym, 600 meters away. It was quite good and I had a nice and quick legday. After another shower I got ready for dinner and met three of the other girls in the lobby at 6. The others were already at an Irish bar, drinking. The guide took us to the market of Mumbai and to the Indian gate again for some nightlife photos. It was way prettier when it was dark. We went to a bar and had a drink before we walked to the Irish bar to meet the others. They were pissed already. Most people stayed there drinking and dancing but I wanted a nice dinner and went to an Indian restaurant to get some food. It was a very good restaurant and the roti they had was the best I’ve had ever. I took a taxi back to the hotel, facetimed back home and wet to bed in decent time. Martha, my roomie, got back a quarter passed two and we all got up around 8. Next up was a flight to Goa. We left the hotel at 8.30, drove to the airport and waited for ages before boarding at 1pm. Goa, the last destination on this trip.

Udaipur

We drove to the train station and waited for 30 minutes before the train came. I ate batis❤️ (Indian bread) and banana for breakfast. The train came and we got on. It was not a luxery one. It was very crowded with bad smells, disgusting food and one-legged beggers. It was a long 6 hours. I watched some Netflix, listened to music and tried to relaxed but it was the worst train I’ve taken. The seats were just a bench for three and we all shared with strangers. No place to rest your head.

Anyway, we made it, we got there and we were all happy when we got off the train.

We drove to Royal Dezire Hotel, checked in, ate lunch and had a nap before the orientation walk at 4pm. The guide showed us the way to the market streets and took us to an art school. We got to see how they make the famous miniature art in Udaipur and it was so impressive. With the tiniest brush, made of the hair of a squirrels tail, they paint the most incredible and detailed small pictures. Really beautiful work and you have to be extremely patient. The painter showed us different techniques and it was a nice demonstration.

Afterwards we went to the lake for a sunset boat trip. It took us around the lake and we saw the beautiful buildings, the City Palace and all the small cute restaurant islands.

The sunset was beautiful and when we got back it was colder. We went straight to dinner at a very good restaurant. I had veggie curry and roti. After dinner we walked back to the hotel and went to sleep.

Saturday morning I had a sleep in before I enjoyed a nice banana Lassi, cereals and milk. After breakfast I went to the gym for legday. I found a gym called healthline fitness center and it was pretty good. After the gym I ran the 2kms back to the hotel before I had lunch and went out for a wander.

I walked to the market, found a cute top, saw the big city temple, walked along the lake and went to the City Palace.

The City Palace was very pretty and very crowded. I walked quickly through it without guide before I went to the art school we visited the day before. I got nailart for 30kr before I had a palm reading session at 4.30.

I don’t really belive in palm reading but because everyone did it I did it too. He started out with telling me how deep my brain and health line is. An intelligent and active girl, most likely an athlete. He said I did loads of physical training which is quite spot on, but you can probably guess that. Afterwards he spoke about my strength and that I can achieve whatever goal set. Apparently “noone can compete me”. Haha well well. My age is gonna be between 88 and 90 and I gonna have 2 daughters. 2020 gonna be a good year for stability in my relationship and I gonna get married at the age of 26. At age 32 I gonna have a positive period at work and I’ll get a good job with a good income. My relationship with my mum is good which is true but apparently the position of the sun in my palm is not the best. It’s a bit down and I should hold my hand against the sun for three minutes every morning. Plus wear an emerald on my ring finger, hahaha. Okay, bullshit and probs a wasted 60kr but it’s gonna be fun to see if any of it is gonna be true. After the palm reading I went straight to the rooftop yoga with some others from the group. It was a nice session and a beautiful sunset with a nice view of the city. We warmed up, did some basic yoga positions, had some meditation and finished up with some hilarious laughing yoga. After the session we took a tuktuk back to the hotel and got ready for dinner.

At 7.30 we took tuktuk to a beautiful restaurant along the lake. It was so cute eoth lights and decorations and I saw a snake on the way in. Most likely a small common wolf snake. That was fun!

Sunday started out very nice. We left the hotel at 10 ready for a cooking class with an Indian family. We made Chai tea, chickpea curry, chapati, flavored rice, okra stew and potato kofta with creamy sauce. It was all very tasty as long as I made it without cumin cus I’m allergic to that. The chapati was my favorite! Deffo gonna make that back home either just in the kitchen or even outside on a bonfire.

Around 1pm the cooking class was done and the food was eaten. I was so so full. Stephanie and I wanted to go to the gym so we walked there straight from the cooking. Unfortunately it was closed bcus it was Sunday. Stephanie went back to the hotel while I took a tuktuk to the celebration shopping mall for a wander in aircon.

I looked around, found some fancy red pants and did 10 minutes of fish spa. The fish spa was the best decision I’ve made in a while. The fish attacked my feet and got rid of all the dry skin after 7 weeks barefoot traveling.

They were good as new after only 10 minutes to the price of 11 kr. I ate some lunch and took a tuktuk back towards the hotel. On the way back I checked a couple of other gyms but they were all closed so I gave up. Good effort though. I went back to the hotel and stayed there for the evening. I just needed an evening for myself. I spoke to Jake for 1,5 hours and had a chat with my family. I also had a cold shower before I just relaxed and fell asleep early. Missing warm water.

The 25th of February I got up 5.45 to have time for the gym in the morning. I went outside the hotel to catch a tuktuk but it was all dark and no tuktuks in sight. I asked the receptionist but he only spoke hindi. I used Google translate to communicate with him and after a while he followed me to the main street so that I could catch a tuktuk from there. I found one easily on that street and got there before 7. I did upper body for an hour and a half before I walked back to the hotel. The sunrise was so beautiful. The healthline gym is a good gym and the staff is so lovely. A nice start of the day. Definitely worth it to get up early. Back at the Royal Dezire Hotel I had a shower, this time warm, before I ate breakfast with the group. Muesli, yoghurt, banana and milk. Yum! After breakfast, at 9.40, we met in the lobby ready for another day on the move. First up was a 5/6 hours bus ride before an overnight train. Cyaaa

Pushkar

We came to pushkar around 1pm and after checking in at the Pushkar New Park hotel we got some hours of freetime. We had some lunch, enjoyed the wifi and relaxed for a bit before I got restless and went for a wander. I walked to the market streets in the city centre. It was an interesting walk. Loads of cows and flies, dogs everywhere and quite friendly people. Pushkar is a holy town. The whole city is vegetarian and you always have to wear concervative clothes. The city has a spiritual vibe and there’s loads of hippies and yoga people here. I liked the first impression of Pushkar. It was more touristy than the other places we’ve been and I felt more safe walking around. The market was more relaxed too. The only thing you have to be careful about are those people trying to give you a “good luck flower”. They’ll push it I to your hands and then claim money for it after. So I passed some of those with a strictly “no thanks” and found my way to the shops. I looked around and bought a little beachy purse. Things are so cheap here, it’s ridiculous.

Back at the hotel I got ready for the orientation walk at 4. We walked through the markets and to the holy temple. We got some freetime to look around before met again, by the lake, for dinner. Locals were paying drums and some women were dancing.

It was a quite nice restaurant with average food. After dinner we walked back to the hotel. Everyone went back to their rooms except Joy, Callum and I. We had some games of pool at the hotel. I beat them both and they wouldn’t even smile to the camera after it haha.

After a while we all went to bed. Rest needed before morning sunrise hike.

The alarm rang at 4.20am. I was ready for another sunrise hike, but then I realised that it was 5.45 and not 4.45 we were supposed to meet so I slept another halfa before I got down to the lobby. We were supposed to walk up a mountain to get the view of the city and see the sunrise. Another gadventures group was doing the hike too. I walked with them to the bottom of the mountain cus my group was too lazy and took a tuktuk. It was a nice group of people. I spoke to a Canadian girl from Calgary, two Australians from Melbs and a Norwegian girl from Bærum. They were five Norwegians on the group. Nice to get to know even more wanderlust young travelers.

Climbing the mountain was easy. Stair the whole way, lights and a beautiful view. On the top I met my group and watched the wonderful sunrise in peace. Or almost piece, except the monkeys that jumped around you.

After the sunrise we walked back down and back to the restaurant by the lake. A scared little puppy with an infected ear followed me the whole way. It was very skinny and covered in flies. All the other dogs we passed on the way to the lake tried to attack it. I felt so sorry for the little puppy. It kept walking around my legs to be protected from the other dogs. I scared the other dogs away and left the puppy with a package of bisquits. I asked the restaurant to call a vet and they said they were working on it. Hopefully someone will help it. I really just wanted to take it home. Poor little thing.

We had some lovely breakfast before we had freetime until 4pm.

I walked back to the hotel and relaxed for a bit before Stephanie and I went out to our new favorite store named acni of Pushkar. They had so many beautiful clothes with good silky materials and nice quality. I got two unique headbands and two tops, and even the tops were just like 90NOK each. Would probably have been around 700NOK back home. We walked back to the hotel and had some hours by the pool. I enjoyed the sun, did some tanning, had some dips in the water and enjoyed a mango Lassi with a nutty cereal for lunch.

Next activity was camelriding. We met in the lobby at 4pm and drove out of the city, to the desert. We got one camel each and started our ride. It was a nice ride and I could see loads of pretty birds, camels and horses. The dark side of the desert was dead camels, dead dogs and loads of garbage.

The camels mouths were frothing and the froth was spjtted everywhere. They farted and burped and we had such a fun time.

After about an hour we got off the camels and enjoyed watching a magician show, a dance show, live music and a flame show. It was all very impressive, especially the magician show. Still can’t understand his tricks. We got traditional Indian dresses, saaris, to wear and we got snack and drinks.

After all the entertainment we got served a wonderful Indian dinner with chapati, bati, mixed vegetable curry, dal, rice and more. It was probably the best meal I’ve had in India so far.

Made on a bonfire in the desert, enjoyed under a sky full of stars. After dinner we drove back to the hotel and went to bed.

Friday morning we got up at 7am to drive to the train station. Next up was a 6 hours train to Udaipur.

Tordi

On the way to Tordi I snoozed and listened to Indian tunes. We drove through villages and open fields, passed everything from cows, pigs, parrots and camels to friendly waving families, fruit markets, farms, sheep, small tiny barber shops and bonfires. We are such a celebrity here, haha. Everyone waves, steers and smiles. Many times we had to drive slowly and beep because the road was full of cows and in the end we drove quite off road. Good we had jeeps. Such a nice drive.

We got to the homestay hotel/palace. It was really nice and we all got rooms on floor 4. The place was almost like a small low standard palace. Big balconies, small doors anddoves everywhere. It felt a bit like being in Mamma Mia.

At 1.30 we got lunch made by the host. Lovely Indian brown bread rolls called Bati, lentil soup and a sweet crumble. It was sooo good. After lunch we had some hours of freetime. I had another snooze, this time in the sun on the roof. It was really warm and nice, about 30 degrees and full sun. Callum and I had a walk around the streets and we met a lot of kids who wanted photos of, and with, us.

At 4.15 we all got ready for a jeep safari. With old army cars local men took us for a wonderful afternoon drive. The drive was about 2 and a half hours and we had several stops on the way. The first stop was a walk through a sheep farm to a water hole. The water hole was so deep, but dry atm because of the dry season.

The second stop was at a farm. We got to walk through the fields and see the different vegetables they grew. Tomatoes, herbs, carrots, onions…

The third stop was at a remote and silent dust road. We got Chai tea and biscuits and the view was so relaxing, green fields all around and no noise. Wonderful.

The last stop was in the dessert sand. We walked up to the top of a sand duna, had a beer, watched the sunset and ran back down to the cars that took us back to the hotel for dinnertime.

It was a very well spent afternoon. Around 7.30 we got served dinner. Just another delicious meal. Vegetables, bread, rice, egg plants, tomato soup and more. Yum. In the evening some of us did some henna painting while others had quite a few beers. It was a wedding close to us and the music was very loud but after dinner we got our own speaker and with Molly’s tunes it turned out to be a pretty good night. The lights were pretty too.

Wednesday morning it was an optional activity to go for a sunrise hike up a mountain at 6am. It was a guided trip but I was the only one from the group who bothered to get up early and go. I got up a quarter to 6 and walked for an hour and a half. It was dark until the top of the mountain, then we watched the sunrise before we hiked down again. We saw two antelopes and I enjoyed the walk. The guide told me a lot about the Tordi village, Indian living and culture and I feel like I learnt a lot!

Back at the hotel, I packed my stuff and got ready for brekky at 8. It was such a nice breakfast with cereals, Buffalo milk, batis, bananas and eggs. At 9.30 we had a walk around the village. Joy, the guide, showed us the school and took us to the pot maker. We got to see how they make pots out of clay and we could also try it ourselves. So many kids ran up to us when we passed them and they were just so adorable.

The weather was warm and nice and when we got back to the hotel we jumped into the cars ready to drive to Pushkar, about three hours.

Some. Nice window views on the way!
